1. Who provides the app
RefundTrail is developed by Nik Novak (“we,” “us,” or “our”). These terms apply when you use the RefundTrail app or this website. Questions can be sent to the support contact listed on our Support page.
2. What RefundTrail does
RefundTrail helps you organize purchase details, return deadlines, reminders, evidence, and refund status. It does not place orders, contact retailers or carriers, file return requests, determine eligibility, interpret a store’s policy for you, or issue refunds.
You are responsible for entering and confirming dates and details from sources you trust, meeting retailer and carrier requirements, shipping items, and contacting the relevant business. RefundTrail cannot guarantee that a return will be accepted or that a refund will be paid.
3. Your records and responsibilities
You decide what to put in the app and remain responsible for the accuracy and lawful use of that information. Keep your purchase records and evidence only for as long as useful, and handle other people’s personal information with care.
CSV export and full backup/restore are available without charge. Backup files can contain purchase and evidence details, so protect copies you save or share.
4. Free use and lifetime unlock
The free version supports up to five active returns. A one-time lifetime in-app purchase unlocks more than five active returns, within the app’s 5,000-purchase and 32 MB local storage capacity. It is a non-consumable purchase, not a recurring subscription. The current localized price and purchase terms are shown by Apple in the app before you confirm.
Apple processes payments and manages purchase history. Restore a prior unlock through the app while signed in to the Apple Account used for the purchase. Apple’s terms and refund processes apply to App Store purchases.
5. Device storage and optional backup
The core tracker works offline and stores records on your device. Optional cloud backup, if enabled, may send records and evidence you select plus account information needed to provide backup, a Firebase user identifier. See the Privacy Policy for details and choices.
You are responsible for keeping copies of exports or backup files that you want to retain. Removing the app from a device does not necessarily remove a separately stored cloud backup.
6. Availability and changes
We may update the app to improve or change features, fix issues, or meet platform requirements. We will make reasonable efforts to keep the app useful, but cannot promise uninterrupted availability, compatibility with every device, or permanent availability of any feature.
7. No professional or retailer advice
RefundTrail provides a personal organization tool. It is not legal, financial, tax, or consumer-rights advice, and it is not affiliated with any retailer, carrier, bank, or payment provider. Check the business’s own terms and contact it directly for decisions about your return or refund.
8. Warranty and liability
To the extent permitted by law, the app and website are provided as available without warranties that every record, reminder, export, or backup will always be complete or error-free. Use your own judgment and keep independent copies of important records.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for a retailer’s or carrier’s decision, missed deadline, lost parcel, rejected return, or delayed refund. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Privacy
Our handling of information is described in the Privacy Policy. By using optional cloud backup, you understand that the information described there is transmitted to the service providers needed to provide that feature.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these terms as the app changes. The effective date at the top will show when the current version took effect. Continued use after updated terms take effect means you accept them to the extent permitted by law.
